Fundraising Tools

Team LIVESTRONG is where athletics meets fundraising. In fact, we believe that tying your training and mileage to fundraising is a great way to make the LIVESTRONG Challenge a rewarding experience and make a difference in the fight against cancer. It's also a great way to earn cool gear and garner experience too!

As a part of your registration for the LIVESTRONG Challenge, you are given a personal Fundraising Profile. You can utilize this tool to set your fundraising goal, share why you're fundraising, and ask friends and family to support you. You can also accept donations to LIVESTRONG directly through your Fundraising Profile!

Follow these quick steps to get your fundraising started off on the right foot:

1. Login to your Fundraising Profile and update your story and photos. You have the option to create a custom URL so that your link is memorable and easy to share with your supporters. You created the password for this profile when you registered for the event.

2. Once your page is updated, share it on social media!

Engage your followers by sharing your personal connection to the LIVESTRONG mission. Let them know WHY you are participating in this event.
Leverage the fact that you are training--create a fundraising campaign around it! Here are some fun ideas:
  • Ask for $.025 per mile you ride during training
  • Ask for $1, $5 or $10 for every mile you will ride during the event.
  • Ask for a donation based on your finish time ($5, $10 or $20 per hour)
Remind your donors that their dollars are supporting the revolutionary work being conducted at LIVESTRONG Cancer Institutes of the Dell Medical School at the University of Texas at Austin.

We've also provided some email templates that you can send out through your Fundraising Profile, or copy them and send through your preferred email. Email is a more personalized way to ask for support than social media, and often forgotten about.

3. Make a few simple donation asks:

  • Ask five friends for $25
  • Ask four family members for $50
  • Ask two businesses you frequent for $100
  • Ask your employer for $150
  • And don't forget to donate yourself!
4. Check out these fundraising ideas to start brainstorming ways you can make the biggest impact.
