Ride Route

The 2008 Austin LIVESTRONG Challenge starts in Dripping Springs, home and training grounds to Lance Armstrong, the picturesque 'Gateway to the Hill Country' 20 miles outside Austin city limits. The Dripping Springs course start lends itself to any cyclist and comes with everything you'd expect in Texas: ranches, rolling hills, riverfront views, whitetail deer and the quintessential Texas Longhorns.

The course departs from Dripping Springs High School onto Hwy 290 before continuing on Roger Hanks Parkway. Longer routes head southeast towards the quaint town of Wimberley, nestled along the Blanco River, for a shaded ride along the river. You then head due west towards Fisher and northwest through the town of Blanco before turning back to Dripping Springs for the Post Event Party.

Overall, the course distances for the Austin Challenge encompass moderate to difficult terrain with some steep climbs, chip and seal road surfaces and multiple cattle guard crossings.
